Should old acquaintance be forgot?

It is that time of year that is fast approaching and time for remembering old acquaintances often figures prominently. So it a was wonderful surprise to have exactly that occur this week.
It has been over 20 years since Erik and I were running 10 miles on a daily basis with a lot of water passing under the bridge since we began. Fittingly, Erik working as a consultant to Roche was game for run along the Rhein while in town.
It was a beautiful sunny day in Basel which is far from guaranteed at this time of year so it was essential to make the most of this opportunity.
I met Erik where he was staying in central Basel near the messeplatz at the Hyperion Hotel.
From there we ran along the road to join the river at Wettsteinplatz. Turning left heading towards Birsfelden and they hydroelectric power plant.
There we could cross the Rhein and head back into Basel. We headed through the Munsterplatz and through the gathering crowds at the Christmas market and back over one of the oldest bridges across the Rhein back to Erik's hotel.
Of course, a run, would not be complete without lots of chatting about our recent adventures in Switzerland and surrounding countries.
Fortunately, for me, with Erik's new work schedule he expects to be visiting the Roche offices here on a regular basis, and I fully expect to share a run or two more over the coming months! Just like old times, just a little bit less distance covered in the same amount of time...
