Viennese Waltz

Waltzing around Vienna this holiday weekend (June 1st, I got delayed in blogging) break I got very engaged with some urgent work and so could not participate in some of the public holiday adventure.
Vienna Zoo
A day visiting a beautiful zoo while I had to work and miss out. Sigh.
Still, working remotely though does afford me the opportunity to still travel and at least join the evening activities. For dinner we visited a steak house and grill called Hutha Da Max.
Spanish Riding School
With no riding skills or real appreciate for dressage we watched and the kids endured the show by many skilled and accomplished riders in an amazingly beautiful building. It was immaculate to say the least. The horse skills were impressive too.
Here are some shots from inside the arena
You can see the stunning buildings from the outside
There is more information to be found at the Spanish Riding School
Big bus tour of Vienna
It has become a mini tradition of ours on short visits to some city to use the Big Bus tours to get a quick review of the local landscape and then decide where go deep!
Here is our first hop on the Vienna loop.
First trip
I discovered a great little coffee store Fenster Cafe which was really a hole in the wall as there was no inside except a window into the barista's world. They had some interesting options such as the Cornettoccino a very popular choice for an espresso in a cone, and another being an espresso with chili! This looked like an interesting challenge although it came with variations on heat levels. I decided the lesser level was sufficient as a start. The full blown Carolina Reaper pepper experience I left for someone else or day where caution was absent. I knew enough about the pepper to give it every bit of respect for something so small, red and gnarly.
Suffice it to say, the regular chili was potent enough that Andi and I thought an ice-cream store visit might help.
Post Espresso with chili and mouth on fire!

Second trip
Museum quarter and Rathaus
If it is not obvious the Rathaus is the seat of local government of Vienna! It was fun to wander around the stunning buildings and streets that are quiet on a Sunday.
Ferris Wheel of Fortune
As we are discovering on our European tour of cities most feature a wheel where you can stand and obtain great views across a city.
Vienna is no exception to that rule and so with kids harassing us to take a ride we continued the tradition.
Prater Park
The fun park was right next door to the ferris wheel and for some strange reason the kids dragged us in that direction.
Ryan and Andi hit the roller coaster while I took photos
Across the path Hayley took a trampoline lesson and workout

Then the water slide was nice due to the warm weather we were enduring. Ryan was at the front with at the rear of the boat out of our sight at this point.

Next visit will most probably be October 12th for the attempt at sub 2 hour marathon - go Kipchoge!
Until next time Vienna!
